Repeat their Favorite Words or Phrases

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

To continue with a good conversation, you must encourage your prospects or clients to talk more. You can say phrases like “Go on…” or “Tell me more…” before going to the next subject.

A person usually uses an average of three of their favorite words or phrases when they engage in conversations. You will recognize that they are a part of their everyday vocabulary. Write them down and remember them the next time that you talk to them. If you feed them their favorite words, they will feel extremely comfortable and close to you because you talk the same language.

Seek a mentor

Out of all the salespeople in the world, there are approximately about 5% who are already “made” and enjoy a level of lifestyle and income that all people would love to achieve.

The nice fact is that selling is a skill, it is not talent. You can learn it if you want to. This means that anyone who has a good work ethic and a teachable spirit has the potential to become a star salesman. And the easiest way to do it is to be around successful people. Search them out and be mentored by them. Talk like they do, copy their mindset and attitude. Become like clay and pick their brains out. You will be glad that you did.
